PHA strengthens partnership with the cotton industry
Plant Health Australia (PHA) and Cotton Australia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the Cotton Industry Biosecurity Program, which aims to improve biosecurity capacity and capability across the sector.
As the peak representative body for the cotton industry, Cotton Australia plays a critical role in representing the biosecurity interests of cotton producers.
The MoU outlines a strategic collaboration focused on consultation, management and implementation of a suite of project activities to bolster biosecurity for the industry and its represented commodity.
These activities align with the priorities identified in the National Plant Biosecurity Strategy and aim to harness the opportunities and benefits for the Industry from the development of resources, as well as extension and training materials generated within the program.
“This MoU signals the continued strength of our partnership with Cotton Australia and producers across the country,” says Jonathan Terlich, PHA’s National Manager, Partnerships.
The Program recently supported delivery of a Cotton Biosecurity Regional Capacity Building Workshop.
The MoU is set to run until 30 June 2026.
