Incursion management consists of responses to Emergency Plant Pests (EPPs) to limit their potential impact on Australia’s primary producers and allied/downstream industries and businesses, our environment, and communities. This is achieved through early detection and reporting of suspected EPPs, enabling a prompt, and coordinated response to contain and potentially eradicate the pest. What constitutes an EPP is defined within the Emergency Plant Pest Response Deed (EPPRD).

An incursion is also known as an outbreak or biosecurity incident. The Biosecurity Incident Management System (BIMS) guides biosecurity responses and initial recovery operations. BIMS works with and complements state or territory and industry response.
