Biosecurity Portal to be decommissioned
The Biosecurity Portal will be decommissioned from Wednesday 1 July 2026, as part of Plant Health Australia’s (PHA) decision to transition to modern supported digital platforms.
The decision reflects PHA’s commitment to ensuring continued access to critical information while strengthening long-term content management and cybersecurity.
What this means for users
Content currently hosted on the Biosecurity Portal will be transitioned to appropriate platforms based on ownership, purpose and ongoing use:
- sites related to Plant Health Committees and its subcommittees, along with the CCEPP Portal will be migrated to GovTeams and managed by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF)
- content within the Fruit Fly Body of Knowledge and the Biosecurity Preparedness Portal will be moved and managed by PHA
- other relevant materials will be relocated to suitable platforms based on use and ownership.
These changes are designed to ensure information remains accessible while improving sustainability and security.
Data management and access
All data held within the Biosecurity Portal will be backed up by PHA prior to decommissioning, with backup copies stored securely. Confidential or sensitive material will be removed from the portal and securely archived in accordance with PHA’s data governance policies.
Archived information will be retained by PHA, with access arrangements managed on a case-by-case basis if required.
Retention and access will follow organisational data management processes and requirements.

Further guidance will be provided as the transition progresses. Users with questions about the decommissioning process or access to information can contact admin@phau.com.au.
