Welcoming AgriFutures Australia to PHA
Plant Health Australia (PHA) has welcomed AgriFutures Australia as a new Associate Member, strengthening collaboration across Australia’s plant biosecurity system.
AgriFutures Australia works with industry, researchers and government to invest in research, development and extension that supports the growth, resilience and sustainability of Australia’s rural industries. Its admission as an Associate Member reflects a long-standing relationship with PHA and alignment of work.
PHA operates under a government–industry partnership model, with membership structured across three categories: Government Members, Plant Industry Members and Associate Members.
This model supports coordination, confidence, trust and continuity by giving Members a formal role in shaping national plant biosecurity priorities, supporting shared decision making and maintaining the relationships, knowledge and capability needed to prepare for and respond to plant pest threats.
Government Members include the Australian Government and all state and territory governments. Through PHA, Government Members support national coordination, policy development and response arrangements for plant pest incursions, helping ensure consistency across jurisdictions and a unified approach to plant biosecurity.
Plant Industry Members are national peak industry bodies representing Australian growers and beekeepers. These members contribute industry expertise and priorities to national biosecurity planning, investment decisions and preparedness activities. Their participation in PHA’s formal governance framework supports transparent decision-making, strengthens trust across the system and ensures industry perspectives help shape national plant biosecurity priorities.
Associate Members are organisations with an interest in plant health or the Australian plant industry, including research and development corporations, research organisations and other partners. Associate Members contribute specialist knowledge, research and collaboration to support informed decision‑making across the biosecurity system.
PHA Members also have access to PHA training and development opportunities that support workforce capability across the plant biosecurity system. View upcoming training in PHA’s training calendar.
As an Associate Member, AgriFutures Australia will bring valuable research, development and extension to PHA’s membership network. This provides a formal avenue to contribute specialist knowledge, participate in member discussions and support collaboration on plant biosecurity priorities.
PHA looks forward to continuing its collaboration with AgriFutures Australia as part of its broader membership, working together to support Australia’s plant biosecurity system.
