An article submitted by Plant Health Australia (PHA) has led to the Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) being named the Pathogen of the Month in the December edition of the Australasian Plant Pathology Society (APPS) newsletter.

The feature, detailing facts and useful information about ToBRFV, was authored by PHA’s Diagnostics Manager, Dr David Lovelock.

Dr Lovelock highlighted management options to help prevent the spread of ToBRFV. He noted that sourcing seeds and plant material with a health certificate will reduce the risk of introduction. Routine crop monitoring for changes in health or symptoms also supports early detection of the virus.
