Plant Industry Forum advocates for stronger biosecurity
The Plant Industry Forum (PIF) has made two submissions to the Federal Government as a biosecurity stakeholder.
These submissions were to the Review of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity (IGAB) and National Biosecurity Strategy Action Plan.
The Plant Industry Forum made these submissions on behalf of 38 plant industry representative groups with a combined annual value to the Australian economy in excess of $43.2 billion.
Producers represented by these groups are at Australia’s frontline of biosecurity management and response efforts and rely on a system that is adequately funded and resourced to support their industry for the good of all Australians.
Plant Industry Forum Committee Chair Nathan Hancock said representation to consultation processes and ensuring PIF’s viewpoint is considered in the development of these national functions was key to plant industry sustainability.
