PHA has released an updated Khapra beetle factsheet through the Grains Farm Biosecurity Program, supporting ongoing efforts to keep this serious stored-grain pest out of Australia.

Khapra beetle is one of the world’s most destructive pests of stored grain. While Australia remains free, recent detections in imported goods highlight the need for heightened awareness and surveillance for this hitchhiker pest which may arrive via an assortment of commodities.

The updated factsheet provides clear, practical guidance to help grain growers, storage operators and transporters:

  • recognise khapra beetle and its damage
  • understand how the pest survives and spreads
  • know exactly what to do if something suspicious is found.

Early detection is critical to protecting Australia’s grain industry. Download the updated khapra beetle factsheet and stay one step ahead.
