Support the International Day of Plant Health

The United Nations has declared 12 May as the International Day of Plant Health (IDPH 2023). It is all about raising global awareness of how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect biodiversity and the environment, and boost economic development.

Our health and the health of our planet depend on plants. Plants provide oxygen, food, fibres for our clothes and natural building materials. Every year 40% of crops are lost due to plant pests and diseases, affecting global food security and agricultural industries.

Healthy plants constitute the foundation of all life on earth, as well as ecosystem functions, food security and nutrition. Plant health is key to the sustainable development of agriculture that is required to feed a growing global population by 2050. Keeping plants healthy is essential for life on earth and we all have a role to play!

Join us in celebrating the global importance of plant health and host a morning tea on 12 May to mark IDPH 2023.To help you promote IDPH 2023 through your channels, Plant Health Australia (PHA) has prepared a handy stakeholder pack including:
