Dr Yasmin Chalmers

Manager, Digital Systems

Yasmin Joined Plant Health Australia as Manager, Digital Systems in September 2024.

Having lived and worked across regional Victoria, Yasmin has developed a deep understanding of the key needs and challenges facing Australian agriculture and horticulture. With over 20 years of experience in senior leadership positions within the research, education and finance sectors, Yasmin’s career began with a focus on the winegrape industry and horticulture research. Yasmin has a science degree with honours from RMIT (Melbourne), which led to a research career in the horticulture industry in Sunraysia. From 1995-2008 Yasmin worked as a researcher in viticulture and grapevine physiology with the Victorian State Government overseeing multiple research initiatives such as a tri-state program investigating Restricted Spring Growth and Australian Grapevine Yellows. During this time, Yasmin completed a PhD in Viticulture and Oenology, which focused on the effects of deficit irrigation on vine physiology and berry composition.

In 2008, Yasmin moved into project management and senior leadership roles within the education and finance education sectors. During the last 13 years in the tertiary sector, she developed and managed professional training programs to support science, technology, and agribusiness. Through these roles she remained in touch with research to support agriculture. Yasmin has a strong interest in innovation, and is recognised for being an adaptable, empowering thought leader with a proven track record in both operational and project management, fostering entrepreneurial and collaborative partnerships.
