Now in its second year, National Biosecurity Week (NBW) was held from 25-31 August and has firmly established itself as a standout campaign on the plant biosecurity calendar. What began as a simple concept quickly took off organically, with this year’s campaign increasing biosecurity awareness and generating widespread support across Australia.

This year’s campaign aimed to broaden the conversation by reaching beyond the farm gate to engage parents, supply chain operators, educators and the wider community. With strong participation from industry, governments and community partners, the week became a shared initiative to promote the importance of biosecurity. Content featured prominently in industry newsletters, across social media, and even made its way onto ABC Radio and Channel 7. The Honourable David Crisafulli, Queensland Premier, also publicly acknowledged the campaign in a media statement.

“Our goal was to raise awareness and build a collective voice around biosecurity, and the results speak for themselves,” said PHA CEO Sarah Corcoran.

“We’re thrilled with the level of engagement and thank everyone who contributed and helped amplify the message.”

PHA’s social media feed was buzzing with activity throughout the week, as Members and partners enthusiastically shared their own content. On PHA’s channels alone, the campaign generated:

  • 53 social media posts reaching 40,604 people
  • 55,245 impressions, with 1,454 engagements and 710 link clicks
  • strong website activity with 2,670 users, over 4,000 resource downloads.

With nearly 40 media mentions and growing public recognition, NBW Week is building real momentum as a unifying campaign across sectors.

Thanks to everyone who helped bring this year’s campaign to life. Your enthusiasm, creativity and collaboration made it a success.
