ILO training improves industry preparedness
On 29 April 2025, Plant Health Australia’s (PHA) Learning and Development team successfully delivered Industry Liaison Officer (ILO) training in Adelaide, strengthening industry readiness to respond swiftly and effectively to emergency plant pest incursions.
Training was delivered in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and Regions, South Australia (PIRSA) and included more than 10 participants from a range of industry bodies, including Grain Producers Australia, Dried Fruits Australia and the Pistachio Growers’ Association.
Expert presentations and interactive activities were used to provide participants with practical skills and knowledge on several topics, including the industry liaison function and the incident management structure.
Participant feedback was positive, with attendees indicating they were more confident in their ability to perform the role of ILO in a response following attending the workshop.
ILOs are essential during emergency plant pest responses, serving as the link between the Incident Management Team and the affected industry party.
