An updated version of the Biosecurity for Beekeepers e-learning course has been published on our Biosecurity Online Training (BOLT) platform.

Plant Health Australia (PHA) completed the updates in consultation with the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council (AHBIC) and Bee Biosecurity Officers employed through the National Bee Biosecurity Program as part of the National Varroa Mite (Varroa destructor) Transition to Management (T2M) Response Plan.

The eLearning course now includes a new varroa mite management module to align with the updated Australian Honey Bee Industry Biosecurity Code of Practice (the Code) providing improved accuracy and longevity.

The Biosecurity for Beekeepers course is free and provides information about keeping honey bees healthy, looking for pests and diseases, and best practice for protecting apiaries.

The course is designed for individuals working in the honey bee industry who have a basic understanding of beekeeping practices and would like to learn more about protecting their bees from pests and diseases. Completing the course and assessments, helps meet the training requirements specified in the Code.
