Dr Jenny Shanks has been with PHA since 2016, becoming Manager Bee Biosecurity in 2020.

Over her time with PHA, she has worked collaboratively with government, industry, and research groups to support bee biosecurity preparedness, exotic bee pest surveillance, and diagnostic activities across Australia. Jenny has a background in entomology holding a PhD specifically focused on native bees and honey bees, and an honours degree in Queensland fruit fly behaviour. Jenny has held guest lecturer, technical assistant and research officer positions at university, and other government departments within the plant pest area.
