Natalie O’Donnell

Diagnostics and Surveillance Network Coordinator

Dr Natalie O’Donnell has a PhD in biological science from Monash University. Natalie’s postgraduate research was on drought and other environmental effects on cyanogenesis in forage sorghum. This project was done in collaboration with Pacific Seeds Pty Ltd, Toowoomba. Her research experience includes the fields of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and plant physiology.

Natalie worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Purdue University, USA. This research was on the chemical intermediates of the phenylalanine biosynthesis pathway in Petunia hybrida, and the downstream volatile compounds produced.  Prior to working at PHA she worked as a Scientific Recruitment Consultant at ChemSkill, Melbourne.

Natalie joined the Training and Biosecurity Preparedness team at PHA in October 2014. In 2019 she moved into a new role at PHA as Diagnostics and Surveillance Network Coordinator.
