Industries

Australian agriculture is an integral part of the nation’s economy, with crops generating more than half of the total value in recent years. In 2017–18 plant production industries contributed over $33 billion to annual agricultural production.

Minimising the biosecurity risks posed by insects, pathogens and diseases (collectively called pests) that are new to Australia is a key focus for governments, plant industries and PHA.

The industry section of our website provides an overview of PHA member industries with a list of high priority pests specific to each industry.
