An issues paper has been released to inform the independent review of the mandatory Horticulture Code of Conduct, which regulates trade in horticultural produce between growers and wholesalers of fresh fruit and vegetables. The independent reviewers, Mr Alan Wein and Mr Mark Napper, developed the issues paper.
The review examines how the Code of Conduct could be improved, and the issues paper gives stakeholders the opportunity to have a say on a range of issues affecting the trade in Australian horticulture produce.
Stakeholders can voice concerns through a submissions process.
The reviewers will meet with a number of growers, markets and traders, and other stakeholders during the public consultation phase in August and September.
Once stakeholder feedback has been received, the reviewers will provide a report and make recommendations for the Australian Government to consider.
Submissions close 18 September 2015.
