Plant Health Experience Register

Until now, there has been no single documented and comprehensive register of plant health experience in Australia.

Although a number of organisations maintain individual lists or databases of plant health practitioners, these are not necessarily comprehensive, up-to-date, or validated.

Over the last year, PHA has developed and trialled a comprehensive and documented online experience register system which is now available for use.

This project has involved reviewing and incorporating existing databases and lists of plant health practitioners, and stocktaking and including other sources of plant health experience into a single consistent register.

While the development of this register has initially involved the identification of relevant Australian experience, it is expected that international linkages will also be established over time.

A process for validating and regularly reviewing expertise details has been put in place.

The development of this web based register of plant health experience (spanning diagnostics, surveillance and pest management) will now enable quick and easy identification of relevant expertise, and assist in improving response times in the event of an exotic pest incursion.

PHA encourages experts to register their details on the Plant Health Experience Register.

This project has received funding from an Australian Government Budget Initiative administered by the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry.
