The Farm Biosecurity Program has published a planner for use by both crop and livestock producers who would like to implement biosecurity measures on their properties. The planner is based on the six ‘biosecurity essentials’ which are:
- Farm inputs
- Farm outputs
- People, vehicles and equipment
- Production practices
- Ferals and weeds
- Train, plan and record.
It provides an explanation of the biosecurity risks on topics within each of the essential management areas and lists actions to take to minimise the risks. Using either printed or electronic versions of the document, producers can fill in details of what they plan to do on their farm.
The planner complements the information provided in biosecurity plans for industries and farm biosecurity manuals provided for specific types of crop or livestock producers.
