The National Plant Health Strategy (NPHS) project, facilitated by PHA, will develop a national strategy providing direction for the plant health sector focusing on the next ten year period. It will incorporate all areas of the national plant health system and involve all stakeholders that have a shared responsibility and commitment to the plant health status of Australia. Through analysis of the current system and the identification of the critical issues facing it, e.g. long term technical capacity, the strategy will establish a clear set of recommendations to guide the future development of Australia’s plant health.
The development of the Strategy will present clear plant health directions incorporating feedback from the upcoming Quarantine and Biosecurity Review commissioned by the Australian Government.

LATEST NEWS (June 2010): PHA Members and stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the draft National Plant Health Strategy. Comments are required no later than Friday, 10 July 2010.
The Strategy's release to government and industry by PHA Chairman, Dr Tony Gregson AM, signals the start of a period of consultation during which feedback and endorsement will be sought to enable the Strategy to be finalised. The document can be downloaded from or is available in hard copy from PHA.
PHA will be consulting directly with Members about the Strategy over the coming month and is also looking to attract feedback from all stakeholders in Australia's plant health system.
